Tobogganing tops the list of extracurricular activities in Sölden. Tradition calls for lots of drinks beforehand. Call Hotel Alpenland at 2365 or Gasthof Silbertal at 2987.

At the Freizeit Arena (photo below), a hot spot on cold and snowy days, visitors can swim; soak in a steambath; bake in a sauna; tan in the solarium; work out on an indoor tennis court or play volleyball, badminton or bowl. For more information call 2514.

Tandem hang-gliding provides a birds-eye view of the entire mountain range. Jump off a cliff in a parachute and hang for hours on thermal currents. Call Outdoor Vacancia at 3100. One trip costs roughly €100.

Horse-drawn sleigh rides leave from the Hotel Liebe Sionne. Call 2203-0.

The Stuibenfall only a short distance is Tyrol’s highest waterfall with a drop of 150 meters. The Piburger See is a beautiful mountain lake with phenomenal reflections on a good day.

The hamlet of Farst is the steepest and most daring settlement on the mountain. Viewed from below it appears that the buildings of the village are tied to the mountainside.
