Mountain Layout Snowboarding
The Olympia SkiWorld Innsbruck is the home of two-time snowboard world champion Martin Freinademetz. The region has five snowboard fun parks, making it ride-heaven for trick-happy boarders.
Axamer Lizum: The Axamer Lizum Snowpark was recently added to the Speed Area. Its most interesting attraction is the "Gun Barrel", a natural halfpipe with steep walls that measure up to 10 meters high which winds down 2.5 kilometers into the valley. If you get a little hungry after experiencing the parks curved box, kicker, kinked box, flat box, flat rail, kicker, easy wall-ride and corner, you can head right over to Cafe-Restaurant Lizum which is also a new addition to the Speed Area.
Schlick 2000: In the backcountry, a short hike from the Kreuzjochbahn mountain station is a virtual freeride arena. Its a natural snow park with cliffs, rollers and pillows, but boarders should check with the Avalanche Warning Service to make sure that the area is safe before heading up. The northeast slopes are an avalanche risk during warmer temperatures. Boarders who ride the backcountry are required to have beepers, shovels, beacons and at least one other skier accompanying him or her. If this area is deemed unsafe, try exploring the slopes directly of the Kabinenbahn which usually still has some pockets of powder left well after the last snowfall or riding the natural halfpipes and jumps above Wächten or going to the Snow Park SennJoch.
Nordpark-Seegrube (also known as The Snowboard Mecca: The Grubn) is perfect for freeriders and the Skyline Fun park has a massive 120-meter superpipe, double straight jumps and corner wall rides.
Stubai Glacier: The area has wide, open bowls for powderhounds and numerous natural kickers and a halfpipe in its snow park.
Rangger Köpfl: The resort added this snow park during the 2004/05 season and has been making steady improvements on it since its construction.
There are also two minor Funparks in Muttereralm and Kühtai.
