Courmayeur, Italy

Après-Ski / NightlifeLe Prive photo, Courmayeur, Italy

Here Courmayeur shines. Après-ski is a long, drawn-out affair with several elegant bars. Start with the Bar Roma on the main street. Here in an old-world atmosphere enjoy mixed drinks, wine and beer with substantial snacks (put out from about 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.). A bit down the Via Roma is the Café della Posta that is just as full of old-world charm but with the addition of a massive fireplace surrounded by couches in the back room behind the bar. A newer spot, but just as crowded, is the Cadran Solaire, a wine bar in a cozy wine cellar atmosphere. The American Bar is a more traditional bar. If you can push through the crowd at the bar, you will discover a hidden room with comfortable seats and a fireplace. Above the American Bar is a tapas bar called Le Privé (photo above). It is a cozier version of the Café della Posta with top-shelf drinks and tapas. Just beyond the church and under the Museo Alpino is the Bar des Guides—one half is bierkeller-esque with long tables and the other half has couches around a crackling fire.

The most popular discos are The Jimmy Night Cafe, Poppy’s Pub and Planet Disco Bar and the bar in Music Bar I Maquis.
