Arosa, Switzerland

Other activities

Arosa is known for its off-slope activities. There are indoor swimming pools, ice skating on three open-air rinks and one covered rink, chess and bridge evenings, more than 60 km. of walking trails, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and tennis courts at the Sunstar Parkhotel, the Robinson Club and the Sporthotel Valsana. The town is also active in arts and entertainment.

Swimming cost is about €5.5–€15 for adults and €2.5–€7.5 for children.

For horse-drawn sleigh rides, contact J. Graber (081-3774716), or Weierhof Stables (081-3774196). Costs are from €60–€140 for four persons based on the route.

Arosa offers organized one-and-a-half hour curling lessons every Monday, starting in December, for CHF10 per person.

A new spa has opened at the Hotel Tschuggen, the Bergoase. It was created by architect Mario Botta and stands in striking contrast to the rest of the resort. Seven sails of glass and steel rise from the evergreens. The massive windows set to soak up the most possible light flood the four spa levels with natural light. Visitors will find a relaxation pool with water heated to 100 degrees (34 C), an outdoor pool, a normal indoor pool, a children's pool and a rock grotto. All this with a series of steam baths and saunas with massage rooms and a full athletic club facility.
