Child Care (2008/09 prices)

The Alpine Club Mickey Mouse is the major child-care program in the area. It incorporates the resort and many of the hotels. The program gives children age 12 and younger special treatment like free lemonade in restaurants; children’s menus with items less than CHF10 in many of the mountain huts; access to playgrounds; and a welcome-surprise bag if you are staying at one of the hotels that participate in the program. Children learn to ski in Donald’s Ski Stadium and snowboard in Goofy’s Halfpipe.

The Swiss Ski School Arosa (081-3787500; fax 081-3787508) is also a part of the Alpine Club Mickey Mouse. Children ages 4-18 are divided into groups of 4 to 8 children for lessons and other activities. A two-and-a-quarter-hour lesson for children ages 4 and older costs CHF44 for one lesson; CHF125 for three lessons; and CHF230 for six lessons. Five full days of instruction cost CHF290; and twelve days cost CHF455. There’s also a package for children 6-12 that costs CHF480 for twelve days of instruction including a thirteen-day lift pass. The Junior Package is for children ages 13-18 and costs CHF380 for five days of instruction including a five-day lift pass; CHF580 for twelve days of instruction including a thirteen-day lift pass. Hotel Arve Central (081 378 52 52) has opened a mini-club for children ages 3-12. It's open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
