Getting there:
Youll probably fly into Zürich, although the trip can be just as easy from Munich or Innsbruck.
Driving from Zürich, take the autobahn to St. Gallen, then to Feldkirch and the Arlberg Pass. (Tunnel toll each way is €8.50.) From Munich and Stuttgart, it is easiest to drive to Bregenz, then to Feldkirch and the Arlberg. From Zürich, its a little over two hours by car, or take the train to St. Anton am Arlberg or or Langen am Arlberg.
Lech and Zürs lie further up the Flexen Pass. Get off the train in Langen and take a bus up the hill, or get off the train in St. Anton and take a different bus.
Direct trains connect Langen with Cologne, Dortmund, Munich, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Zürich, Paris, Brussels and Calais. The Orient Express (800-237-1236) also makes a stop in St. Anton during the off-season (beginning in late March).
More convenient than the train is direct ski bus service from Zürich Airport to all the Arlberg resorts that runs on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. On Fridays, departure is at 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. On Saturdays, buses leave at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. On Sundays, two buses leave at 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Fares are about €45 one way and €75 round trip. The bus trip takes about three hours and at times can be quicker than driving since the bus drivers know how to avoid the weekend traffic jams. Make reservations through Arlberg Express (05582-226, fax 05582-580).
There is a bus connecting the Munich airport with St. Anton. Call Four Seasons Travel at 0512-584157. Local taxi companies will also pick up at the airport: Taxi Harry (2315), Taxi Lami (2806) or Arlberg Car (3730).
